PCC WIN 18th ALL INDIA J.P. ATRAY MEMORIAL CRICKET TOURNAMENT

Winning the toss and batting first against Mohit XI in the Finals of 18th All India J.P. Atray memorial Cricket Tournament for Pearls Trophy at PCA Stadium Mohali, PCC were soon in trouble losing their opener Ishan Malhotra (1) ane Karan Goel (1) with the total reading (4) in 4.2 overs. Then a 93 runs partnership for the 3rd wicket between Ravi Inder Singh (56) off 66 balls inclusive of 9 boundaries and Mandeep Singh 46 off 34 balls with 5 fours and 2 sixes revived the innings to some extent. Thereafter Mayank Sidana (26) Gitansh Khera (22) alongwith Taruwar Kohli unbeaten (65) off 78 balls with 4x4s and one six and a late cameo of 34 off 23 balls with 4x4s and 2x6s by Rahul Sharma saw PCC reach a fighting total of 269 for 7 in 50 overs. Anureet Singh 2 for 53, Karan Sharma 2 for 39 and Ashish Yadav 2 for 38 were the main wicket takers for Mohit XI.

Replying Mohit XI were bowled out for 167 in 42.1 overs. At one stage they were tottering at 47 for 5 in 11.1 overs. Then a 70 runs partnership for the 6th wicket between J.P. Yadav 30 and Ashish Yadav 44 steadied the innings for a while. But Mohit XI kept on losing wickets at regular intervals. Barinder Singh 5 for 35 broke the back of Mohit XI innings he was ably supported by Rahul Sharma 2 for 14 and Karan Goel 2 for 26. PCC won by 102 runs. Barinder Singh was named man of the match for his incisive bowling. The best batsman award went to Mandeep Singh, Best All rounder J.P. Yadav and Man of the Series Rahul Sharma. Mr. Chander Shekhar Chairman Organising Committee and filmstar SIMONE SINGH presented the winners trophy and cash prise of Rs.2.00 lacs to the PCC teama and Runner up Trophy and cash prize of Rs. 1.00 lac to Mohit XI.
