Reliance XI- Winners All India JP ATRAY Tournament WINNERS 2012

Openers Shikhar Dhawan and Parthiv Patel shine in Reliance-I win in JP Atray tourney

If it was skipper Parthiv Patel's knock which propelled Reliance-I into the tournament's final, then it was the turn of Shikhar Dhawan along with Patel on Tuesday as the Delhi batsman played a knock of 80 runs off 97 balls to steer Reliance-I to a five-wicket win over MPCA and to claim the title on the concluding day of the 19th JP Atray Memorial Cricket Tournament played under lights at PCA Stadium.

Chasing a target of 227 runs in the allotted 50 overs, Dhawan was first associated in a 147-run partnership with skipper Parthv Patel to give Reliance-I a resounding start to the chase. The duo matched each other stroke by stroke and stepped up the tempo for the Reliance-I side. The MPCA total of 227 runs looked well within the reach when the duo was batting at the crease. Skipper Parthiv Patel departed after playing a knock of 89 runs off 82 balls. Patel gave a simple catch to Pandey off the bowling of Rameez Khan. At this point of time, Dhawan was joined by Aditya Waghmode but he did not last long and departed early. Dhawan meanwhile continued to hold the Reliance-I innings together and hit the ball all around the park. Before he departed at an individual score of 80 off 97 balls, Dhawan had made sure that Reliance-I romped home with ease. Reliance-I were 214 for 5 in 31.2 overs when Dhawan departed and it was an easy win for the Mumbai side. Dhawan smashed eight boundaries and one towering six during his stay at the crease. The Mumbai side won the match scoring 228 runs for the loss of five wickets in 38.2 overs. For MPCA, D Chaurasia claimed two wickets for 26 runs.

Earlier in the day, Reliance-I skipper Parthiv Patel won the toss and opted to field first. His decision proved to be a right decision as Madhya Pradesh Cricket Association lost three wickets for 31 runs in six overs.

Anad Singh and MPCA skipper Udit birla then steadied the MPCA innings with a 51-run stand for the fourth wicket before Birla was caught by Shikhar Dhawan off the bowling of Baltez Singh. Birla played a knock of 51 runs off 87 balls smashing four boundaries. Varunesh Sharma then added 56 runs for the sixth wicket with Salman Baig before Beg departed after playing a knock of 23 off 24 balls. Varunesh Sharma played a valiant knock of 73 runs off 56 balls before he was the last batsman out as MPCA posted a total of 227 in 49.2 overs. Sharma smashed five boundaries and two towering sixes during his stay at the crease. For Reliance-I, Pawan Suyal claimed four wickets for 44 runs while Rahul Shukla grabbed four wickets for 44 runs.

Reliance-I skipper Parthiv Patel was adjudged as the Man of the Match. The winning team got the winners' trophy along with a cash prize of Rs two Lakh while MPCA got a cash prize of Rs one Lakh. Kiran Adhav of BPCl was adjudged as the best bowler of the tournament as he claimed 12 wickets for 105 runs. Gurkirat Walia of PCA Colts claimed the best batsman trophy with 203 runs at an average of 94.50. Parthiv Patel claimed the Best Man of the Series award for scoring 268 runs in the tournament.

PARVEEN KUMAR STARS FOR ONGC IN THE 19TH ALL INDIA J.P. ATRAY MEMORIAL CRICKET TOURNAMENT


In today's match which was reduced to 20 overs at DAV Sector 8 Ground ONGC got the better of Baroda Cricket Association by 6 wicket and secured 5 points including a bonus while Baroda got (-1). Winning the toss ONGC opted to field. Their attack was led by India’s medium pacer Parveen Kumar, who scalped three wickets to reduce Baroda to 31 for 6 in 10.1 overs. He had Dhiren Mistry caught at first slip for 2 then castled Sourav Wakaskar and then had Jai Kishan caught at extra cover for one. Baroda innings got some kind of smebelance with Yagnesh 34 off 37 balls and Swapnil unbeaten 25 off 30 balls adding 64 runs for the 7th wicket in 54 balls. Baroda innings ended at 95 for 8 in 20 overs. Parveen Kumar 3 for 18, Sorab 2 for 13 and Lukinder 2 for 12 doing most of the damage for ONGC.

In reply ONGC were rocked back when Parveen Kumar opening the innings was cleaned bowled by Abhijeet for 01. Then Sandeep Sharma and Tanmay Srivastav added 58 runs for the 2nd wicket before Tanmay was caught and bowled by Lukman for 35 off 30 balls inclusive of 2 boundaries and three huge sixes. Sandeep was next to got being castled by Krunal for 34 off 39 balls inclusive of four boundaries. ONGC scored 99 for 4 in 15.1 overs to record a victory with bonus point. Parveen Kumar was named man of the match. Krunal 2 for 17 was the most successful bowler for Baroda.

In another match played at GMSSS Sector 26 and reduced to 29 overs a side CAG won the toss and elected to field. Hiten Dalal and Manvinder Bisla who opened the innings for Air India put on 76 runs for the 1st wicket in 9.3 overs before Manvinder Bisla was caught by Bipul Sharma of Rizwan for 37 off 28 balls inclusive of 5 boundaries and one six. Mohd. Kaif departed early as he was caught by Rizwan of Rawal for 7. Thereafter Deepak Joon in company of Hiten Dalal put on 92 runs for the 4th wicket before Deepak Joon was caught by Imtiaz off Rawal for 42 off 38 balls inclusive of 2 boundaries and two sixes.Hiten Dalal became the 4th victim of Kuldeep Rawal when he was trapped in front for 76 off 73 balls studded with 6 boundaries and three towering sixes. Air India Innings ended at 213 for 6 in 29 overs. Kuldeep Rawal 4 for 29 was the main wicket taker for CAG.

CAG started with a flourish with Nitin Saini and Bhushan Chohan putting on 42 runs for the first wicket. CAG was in a spot of bother when they lost their first 5 wickets with 83 runs on the board in 12.4 overs. Then a spirited partnership of 76 runs for the 6th wicket between B.D.Panda and Bipul Sharma saw the team’s total reach 159 for 6 in 23.1 overs. The Partnership was broken by Shakati Sherawat who castled B.D.Panda for 53 off 39 balls studded with 4 boundaries and three huge sixes. Bipul Sharma left soon after being caught by Sonu of an intended hook off the bowling of Abid Khan for 33 off 37 balls studded with three boundaries and one six. CAG were 177 for 8 in 25.2 overs when Imtiaz Ahmd and Paramveer Singh dealt some lusty blows while adding 39 runs in 18 balls to post an exciting two wickets win for CAG with four balls to spare. Imtiaz Ahmd got 19 off 10 balls with 2 fours and a six while Paramveer Singh got unbeaten 20 off just 8 deliveries including two huge sixes. Atiff Ahmd. 3 for 33 Shakti Sherawat 2 for 32 and Abid Khan 2 for 42 shared the spoils for Air India. CAG Got 4 points for their win while Air India got (0). Kuldeep Rawal for his incisive bowling of 4 for 29 was named man of the match.
